Quorum sensing-a promising tool for degradation of industrial waste containing persistent organic pollutants

Summary: Biodegradation of persistent organic pollutants through quorum sensing by biofilm-forming bacteria is a promising treatment process, offering excellent opportunities for horizontal gene transfer and enhancing resistance against stress conditions. However, there are gaps in knowledge regarding the environmental niche and abundance of QS bacteria in wastewater treatment systems. Further research is needed to explore QS gene expression and test full-scale applications in reactors for wastewater treatment.

Summary: The combined effects of organic fertilizer amendment and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF)-assisted phytoremediation significantly improved sandy soil, increasing plant biomass and nutrient element content, as well as soil organic carbon and stable macroaggregates. Using Illumina high-throughput sequencing, it was found that the combined amendment had a significant impact on soil microbial diversity, community composition, and ecological function.

SPX-domain proteins and OsPHR2 play crucial roles in regulating symbiosis-related genes during mycorrhizal infection.
