Competitive kinetics of Ni(II)/Co(II) and Cr(VI)/P(V) adsorption and desorption on goethite: A unified thermodynamically based model

Summary: This study investigated the thermodynamic and kinetic adsorption behaviors of Ni(II), Co(II), Cr(VI), and P(V) on goethite, revealing competitive adsorption relationships among the ions and different adsorption characteristics. The developed kinetic model successfully predicted the overshooting phenomenon in binary competitive adsorption processes.

Sorption Mechanisms of Chemicals in Soils

Factors influencing sorption behavior include soil mineral and organic matter properties, as well as the characteristics of the sorbing chemicals. Advancements in analytical methods have enabled direct determination of sorption mechanisms despite the complexity of soils.
