Mathematical modelling for ground consolidation settlements induced by lining leakage of shield tunnel under train loading in viscoelastic porous soils

Zhiguo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a closed-form analytical solution to predict ground consolidation settlements under train loading, considering lining leakage and rheological medium, with validation through comparisons with in-situ observed data and existing numerical simulation results. Furthermore, a detailed sensitivity analysis is conducted to investigate the influences of concerned parameters on surface consolidation settlements, including lining-soil permeability, Boltzmann model parameters, and train loading. The study highlights the importance of considering the coupled influence of lining leakage and train loading, as well as the rheological behavior in viscoelastic porous soils.

Numerical simulation of ground movement induced by water and sand gushing in subway through fault based on DEM-CFD

Fan Chen et al.

Summary: The study aims to explore the laws of ground movement and settlement caused by water and sand gushing during tunnel construction, and proposes a theoretical formula for predicting the maximum ground settlement. It was found that surface settlement above the tunnel increases with the increase of mass loss ratio, and the inflow of sand and water exhibits dynamic changes during the water and sand gushing process.

Water pressure evolution and structural failure characteristics of tunnel lining under hydrodynamic pressure

Haobo Fan et al.

Summary: With the frequent occurrence of heavy rainfall, problems like lining cracking and buckling collapse in water-rich mountain tunnels become more prominent. Through the study of water pressure evolution and failure characteristics under different drainage schemes, it was found that an optimized drainage system can significantly reduce water pressure and uplift displacement, ensuring the safety of the tunnel lining structure.

An incident of water and soil gushing in a metro tunnel due to high water pressure in sandy silt

Dong-Mei Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses an incident of water and soil gushing during the construction of a connecting passage of Metro Line 18 in Shanghai, analyzing the causes, damage, and effectiveness of remedial measures. Remedial measures including grouting and lining reinforcement with reinforced steel ring improved the stability of the tunnel structures.

Investigating the relationship between erosion-induced structural damage and lining displacement parameters in shield tunnelling

Zhi Ye et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between erosion-induced structural damage and lining displacement parameters using a finite element approach. Through a series of parametric studies, the structural damage mechanism was clarified, with findings showing a proper correlation between lining concrete damage and yielded circumferential bolts with the vertical convergence rates of the liners. Additionally, the maximum internal force of the longitudinal bolts was identified by the axial deflection angle of adjacent liners.

Influences of buried depth and grain size distribution on seepage erosion in granular soils around tunnel by coupled CFD-DEM approach

Jian-Gu Qian et al.

Summary: The study conducted five numerical tests of seepage erosion in granular soils around tunnels using the CFD-DEM coupling method, investigating the influences of buried depth and grain size distribution on seepage erosion. The results showed that the number of fines loss, eroded zone, and ground settlement increase with buried depth and mean particle size ratio.
