Mohammad Ali Abdelkareem et al.

Summary: This article discusses the unique utilization of nanofluids in thermoelectric generator (TEG) applications, specifically in waste heat recovery. Nanofluids have been shown to significantly improve heat transfer efficiency and enhance TEG performance. However, further research and development are needed to achieve commercialization of TEG systems.

Energy performance investigation of nanofluid-based concentrated photovoltaic / thermal-thermoelectric generator hybrid system

Abdelhak Lekbir et al.

Summary: The study explored the use of nanofluid in a CPV/T solar collector to enhance electrical and thermal performance, and found that the nanofluid-based system outperformed traditional cooling methods. Specifically, the nanofluid-based NCPV/T-TEG configuration exhibited significantly higher electrical performance compared to standard PV modules, CPV/TEG, and WCPV/T-TEG configurations. Additionally, the NCPV/T-TEG system showed an overall thermal energy increase compared to the water-cooled system. The results suggest that the NCPV/T-TEG hybrid system has the potential for further development in high-concentration solar systems.

A Machine Learning Approach to Predicting the Heat Convection and Thermodynamics of an External Flow of Hybrid Nanofluid

Rasool Alizadeh et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the heat convection and entropy generation in a hybrid nanofluid flowing around a cylinder embedded in porous media. The research found that the heat transfer of the system increases with higher Reynolds number, permeability parameter, or volume fraction of nanoparticles, while increasing nanoparticle concentration has a nonmonotonic effect on entropy generation. The study demonstrates the capability of artificial intelligence algorithms in predicting the thermohydraulics and thermodynamics of thermal and solutal systems.

Performance of TEG integrated channel with area expansion by using advanced passive techniques

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of flow separation on the power generation and conversion efficiency of a thermoelectric generator integrated channel flow with area expansion through numerical simulations. Results showed that using an eccentric conic object near the thermoelectric device and adding hybrid nano-sized particles in the heat transfer fluid can enhance system performance. Different parameters such as Reynolds number, expansion ratio, aspect ratio, location and size of the eccentric cone, and solid nanoparticle volume fraction were studied to understand their effects on fluid flow and power generation characteristics. The study also revealed that changing the object location is more favorable than increasing the size and aspect ratio of the cone for power generation, conversion efficiency, and pressure drop features.

Impacts of elasticity and porosity of the channels on the performance features of thermoelectric module mounted system and efficient computations with multi-proper orthogonal decomposition approach

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: The presence of elastic walls has a slight impact on power variation, while the presence of a porous layer alters power generation features significantly. Increasing the permeability and height of the porous layer results in higher thermoelectric power generation, with the highest increment amounts being 32% for the highest permeability and 17% for the highest porous layer height. The length of the porous layer in the flow direction has a slight impact on power generation, while introducing nano-sized particles further enhances power generation.

A machine learning approach to the prediction of transport and thermodynamic processes in multiphysics systems-heat transfer in a hybrid nanofluid flow in porous media

Rasool Alizadeh et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel approach based on machine learning techniques for predicting transport behaviors of complex multiphysics systems, resulting in significant reductions in computational time and cost. The study focuses on a hybrid nanofluid flow over a blunt object in porous media, including mixed convection, entropy generation, local thermal non-equilibrium, and nonlinear thermal radiation. The SVR model is used to approximate various functions, while the PSO meta-heuristic algorithm is applied for proposing correlations, allowing for quantitative evaluation of variables' contributions.

Summary: This study examines the influence of various factors on heat transfer characteristics of rotating cylinders in a cavity with the presence of Cu water nanofluid. Results show that increasing nanofluid volume fraction and rotational Reynolds number lead to improved heat transfer efficiency. Among the configurations, Configuration C with specific inlet and outlet ports demonstrates the highest heat transfer enhancement, while Configuration C with a different set of inlet and outlet ports shows better performance in overall PEC criteria for both cylinders.
