Thermoelastic fractional derivative model for exciting viscoelastic microbeam resting on Winkler foundation

Ahmed E. Abouelregal

Summary: This study investigates the thermoelastic vibration of a viscoelastic microbeam resting on the Winkler foundation using fractional-order theory, replacing the Kelvin-Voigt model with a new form. The effects of various parameters on the microbeam response, such as viscosity coefficient, axial load, fractional derivative order, laser pulse duration, and foundation parameter, are explained and discussed in detail.

Elastostatics of Bernoulli-Euler Beams Resting on Displacement-Driven Nonlocal Foundation

Marzia Sara Vaccaro et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new nonlocal approach by swapping the input and output fields involved in the original formulation of Wieghardt, using a displacement-driven nonlocal integral strategy to overcome inherent difficulties and issues. This new approach simplifies the integrodifferential equations governing the elastostatic problem of an inflected elastic slender beam, and involves kinematic, static, and new constitutive boundary conditions.

On the regularity of curvature fields in stress-driven nonlocal elastic beams

Marzia Sara Vaccaro et al.

Summary: In this study, elastostatic problems of Bernoulli-Euler nanobeams were investigated using the stress-driven nonlocal elasticity model, resulting in the output of elastic curvature fields. It was shown that fields of elastic curvature associated with piecewise smooth source fields and bi-exponential kernels are continuously differentiable in the whole domain. The effectiveness of interface conditions was demonstrated through the solution of an exemplar assemblage of beams subjected to discontinuous and concentrated loadings and to thermal curvatures nonlocally associated with discontinuous thermal gradients.

Contribution of nonlocal integral elasticity to modified strain gradient theory

S. Ali Faghidian

Summary: The nonlocal integral elasticity and the modified strain gradient theory are integrated in the framework of the nonlocal modified gradient theory of elasticity, capturing size-dependent effects in nano-beams. The proposed nonlocal modified gradient problem is well-posed, demonstrated through analytical examination and comparison with molecular dynamics simulation. The stiffening effect of the gradient characteristic parameters is confirmed, providing an effective approach for nanoscopic study of field quantities.

Limit behaviour of Eringen's two-phase elastic beams

Marzia Sara Vaccaro et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the bending behavior of small-scale Bernoulli-Euler beams using Eringen's two-phase local/nonlocal theory of elasticity. It finds that some obtained solutions do not meet equilibrium requirements and kinematic boundary conditions, therefore cannot be assumed as solutions of the purely nonlocal theory of beam elasticity. This conclusion aligns with the known result that the elastic equilibrium problem of beams formulated by Eringen's purely nonlocal theory admits no solution.

Thermomagnetic behavior of a nonlocal finite elastic rod heated by a moving heat source via a fractional derivative heat equation with a non-singular kernel

Ahmed E. Abouelregal

Summary: The use of fractional derivatives has been valuable in modeling problems in engineering sciences, with different concepts of fractional derivatives available. This study proposes a new mathematical heat conduction model based on the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative, and applies Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory to study size dependent effects. The findings show significant impacts of factors such as nonlocality coefficient, fractional order parameter, and velocity of the moving heat supply on the physical variables studied.

Summary: This article investigates the influence of thermal conductivity on the dynamics of a rotating nanobeam using nonlocal thermoelasticity theory. Analytic solutions for bending moment, deflection, and temperature are obtained through the Laplace transform procedure. The study highlights the strong dependence of physical fields on nonlocal parameters, changes in thermal conductivity, rotation speed, and mechanical loads, emphasizing the importance of considering these effects in the manufacturing process of precise/intelligent machines and devices.

Thermo-viscoelastic orthotropic constraint cylindrical cavity with variable thermal properties heated by laser pulse via the MGT thermoelasticity model

Ahmed Elsayed Abouelregal et al.

Summary: A new generalized model of thermoelasticity based on the MGT equation is introduced in this paper, taking into account the dependence of material properties on temperature and viscosity type. The study investigates thermo-viscoelastic interactions in an orthotropic body with a cylindrical cavity, considering the effects of viscosity, pulsed heat, and thermal temperature-independent properties. The physical fields are found to strongly depend on the viscoelastic parameter, changes in thermal conductivity, and pulsed heat, highlighting the importance of these factors in manufacturing processes.

Nonlocal Elasticity Theory for the Mechanical Behavior of Protein Microtubules

E. Ghandourah

Summary: In this work, the Reddy beam theory is used in combination with Eringen's nonlocal differential constitutive relations to derive equations of motion for protein microtubules in terms of generalized displacements. An analytical solution for bending protein microtubules is presented to showcase the impact of nonlocal behavior on deflections. The theoretical developments and numerical solutions provided here can serve as references for nonlocal theories of protein microtubules or beams.
