Edge stabilities, properties and growth kinetics of graphene-like two dimensional monolayers composed with Group 15 elements

Ruiqi Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, researchers systematically studied the edge stabilities of two-dimensional monolayer films constructed from beta-phase P, As, Sb, and Bi. The results showed that the zigzag edge with dangling atoms is the most stable for free-standing films, while the pristine AC edge is the most stable for Bi. Buckles have no apparent influence on the edge stabilities in free-standing films but play a significant role when considering underlying metal substrates.

Tayeb Fahim et al.

Summary: This research numerically explores the impact of introducing obstacles to the receiver tube of a parabolic trough collector on heat transmission and overall thermal performance. The results show that obstacles can enhance the collector's thermal performance under specific geometrical parameters and spacing, and increasing the concentration of solid nanoparticles in the thermal oil improves heat transmission.

Oriented square shaped pin-fin heat sink: Performance evaluation employing mixture based on ethylene glycol/water graphene oxide nanofluid

Sonia Nawaz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the heat transfer characteristics of an oriented square-shaped pin fin heat sink using graphene oxide (GO) nanofluid. Experimental results show that the nanofluid exhibits better thermal performance compared to the base fluid, due to the enhanced thermal conductivity and reduced thermal resistance. The improvement in thermal performance is particularly significant at low Reynolds numbers.

A Machine Learning Approach to Predicting the Heat Convection and Thermodynamics of an External Flow of Hybrid Nanofluid

Rasool Alizadeh et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the heat convection and entropy generation in a hybrid nanofluid flowing around a cylinder embedded in porous media. The research found that the heat transfer of the system increases with higher Reynolds number, permeability parameter, or volume fraction of nanoparticles, while increasing nanoparticle concentration has a nonmonotonic effect on entropy generation. The study demonstrates the capability of artificial intelligence algorithms in predicting the thermohydraulics and thermodynamics of thermal and solutal systems.
