Time-series analysis of the effects of building and household features on residential end-use energy

Soo-Jin Lee et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively considered the influence of dwelling and household features on energy consumption for different end-uses. Data was collected from a field survey of 154 households in South Korea, and multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the variables with the greatest influence. The results showed that different characteristics had varying degrees of influence on energy consumption, with heating mainly affected by physical building factors and cooling and electric appliances mainly influenced by household appliance-use characteristics.

Impacts of land use/ land cover types on interactions between urban heat island effects and heat waves

Zhendong Zou et al.

Summary: The study showed that the urban heat island effect is significantly amplified during heat waves, with different land use types in urban areas playing a significant role in this interaction. Increasing natural surface coverage can mitigate the intensity and warming potential of the UHI effect, attributed to increased latent heat consumption by vegetation during heat waves.

Evaluation of the cooling effect of green and blue spaces on urban microclimate through numerical simulation: A case study of Iloilo River Esplanade, Philippines

J. A. Cruz et al.

Summary: The study found that the urban park along the Iloilo River Esplanade in Philippines has significant cooling effect and energy saving potential, but a slight temperature increase at night due to the warming effect of water. Additionally, the CE, HR, and ESP tend to decrease gradually as the horizontal distance from the park and altitude increases.

Comparison of cooling effect between green space and water body

Xingyu Tan et al.

Summary: The cooling effects of green spaces and water bodies are significant in subtropical cities, with area-related metrics showing a strong correlation with cooling effect. The shape and fragmentation of green and blue spaces, as well as the efficiency threshold values, play important roles in determining the cooling intensity and range in urban environments. Additionally, water bodies tend to have higher cooling intensity and larger cooling ranges compared to tree-based green spaces.

Nonlinear influence of urbanization on China's urban residential building carbon emissions: New evidence from panel threshold model

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: Urbanization has a nonlinear impact on urban residential building CO2 emissions, influenced by per capita income and energy structure stages. Promoting environmentally-friendly consumption patterns and increasing the penetration of cleaner energies in urban households can effectively alleviate the growth of residential carbon emissions.
