Wood ash biomethane upgrading system: A case study

Davide Papurello et al.

Summary: In this study, biomethane fuel was obtained from biogas using solid matrix obtained from a wood-fed central heating plant. The composition of biomethane and its injection limits into the gas grid were analyzed. The process showed effective CO2 removal initially, but limitations related to ash content and reactive phases were observed after prolonged testing period.

Characteristics of in-situ hydrogen biomethanation at mesophilic and thermophilic temperatures

Hao Jiang et al.

Summary: In-situ hydrogen biomethanation is a promising technology for upgrading biogas quality, and investigating its characteristics under different conditions is crucial for its effectiveness. The experiments showed that hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis performed better at thermophilic conditions, with the highest methane content obtained when H2 and CO2 were fed at a 4:1 ratio with Methanothermobacter as the dominant genus.
