Marginal lands for bioenergy in China; an outlook in status, potential and management

Mirza Faisal Qaseem et al.

Summary: China has made significant progress in renewable energy over the past 20 years and plans to gradually incorporate renewable energy into the primary energy mix while reducing CO2 emissions. The Chinese Government has actively promoted bioenergy, including cultivating bioenergy crops on marginal lands. Policies, subsidies, and incentives for biomass-based energy promotion in China are discussed in the paper, along with effective strategies for land management and plant improvement to make marginal lands suitable for bioenergy crop cultivation.
