Linear and Non-Linear Regression Analysis for the Adsorption Kinetics of SO2 in a Fixed Carbon Bed Reactor-A Case Study

Anna M. Kisiela-Czajka et al.

Summary: In this study, the kinetic parameters of SO2 adsorption on unburned carbons and activated carbons were determined using linear and non-linear regression methods. The fitting quality of different models was assessed and it was found that linear regression is more accurate in reflecting the behavior of the adsorption system. Different mechanisms were observed for the two types of carbons.

Characteristics of Waste Generated in Dimension Stone Processing

Pawel Strzalkowski

Summary: Natural dimension stone processing generates significant amounts of stone waste, impacting the environment and efficiency of stone-processing plants. The key to reducing waste is through rational planning, maximizing material usage efficiency, and utilizing modern processing machines. Efforts should be made to manage and reduce this significant volume of stone waste for increased profitability and environmental protection.

Dynamic Analysis for the Hydraulic Leg Power of a Powered Roof Support

Dawid Szurgacz

Summary: This study focused on determining the dynamic power of a hydraulic leg, which is essential for maintaining the position of a powered roof support. The analysis revealed that the power of the hydraulic leg must exceed the energy of rock mass impact, which is primarily generated by tremors caused during mining exploitation.

Cascade Membrane System for Separation of Water and Organics from Liquid By-Products of HTC of the Agricultural Digestate-Evaluation of Performance

Agnieszka Urbanowska et al.

Summary: The new regulations restrict traditional ways of utilizing the by-product of anaerobic digestion, prompting the exploration of innovative methods such as hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) for more efficient valorisation. By recirculating process water back to the HTC process, nutrient recovery efficiency can be enhanced. The use of cascade membrane systems has been found to be effective in separating organic by-products of HTC and water, achieving a COD removal efficiency of nearly 60%.
