4-Hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine as a Bifunctional Interface Modifier for High-Efficiency and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Lina Tan et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have made significant progress in the past decade. The interface behavior between the perovskite active layer (PAL) and hole transport layer (HTL) plays a crucial role in the performance and stability of PSCs. In this study, a bifunctional modifier of 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (HTMP) is introduced at the PAL/HTL interface. The HTMP molecule forms bi-directional hydrogen bonds to inhibit ion migration, reinforces the interface contact, and improves the stability of perovskite. Additionally, HTMP passivates interface defects, provides a suitable energy gradient arrangement, and reduces nonradiative recombination loss, leading to an increase in the power conversion efficiency of the PSC.
