This mini review summarizes the recent advancements in the design of bacterial-based electrochemical sensors, with a specific focus on methodologies used for preparation of bioelectrodes based on electroactive bacteria. It also presents the current trends in the design of efficient and high performing bacterial electrochemical sensors for toxicity monitoring. Additionally, an overview of the most relevant findings and challenges of this technology is provided, serving as a general outlook for future research planning.
In recent years, there have been advancements in the development of bacterial electrochemical sensors for toxicity monitoring, especially through utilization of electroactive bacteria. Accordingly, this mini review summarizes the recent advances in the design of bacterialbased electrochemical sensors with a specific discussion of main methodologies used for preparation of bioelectrodes based on electroactive bacteria. Additionally, current trends in the design of efficient and high performing bacterial electrochemical sensors for toxicity monitoring are presented. An overview of the most relevant findings and challenges of this technology for practical are provided and might serve as a general outlook for planning further research.
