Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, antibiotic resistance genes, toxicity in the exposed to anthropogenic pressure soils of the Southern Russia

I. S. Sazykin et al.

Summary: The study found a close correlation between PAHs concentration, biosensor testing for integral toxicity, and the content of genes for biodegradation of hydrocarbons in soils. However, no relationship was found between the quantitative content of ARGs and the qualitative and quantitative composition of PAHs. Soil compositions of PAHs differed under different types of anthropogenic pressures, with industrial soils being the most polluted.

Valproic acid triggers radiation-induced abscopal effect by modulating the unirradiated tumor immune microenvironment in a rat model of breast cancer

Liya Jin et al.

Summary: The study found that valproic acid combined with radiation therapy can inhibit the growth of both irradiated and unirradiated tumors, by activating CD8(+) T cells and inducing macrophages polarization to M1 phenotype, promoting the abscopal effect. This effect is associated with tumor cell apoptosis and changes in levels of inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: The combined application of valproic acid (VPA) and hydroxyurea (HU) has been found to have a significant impact on breast cancer cells, affecting multiple signaling pathways. Furthermore, VPA can alter the tumor microenvironment, reduce tumor burden, and impact patient survival rates.
