Ferroptosis: A Novel Mechanism of Artemisinin and its Derivatives in Cancer Therapy

Shunqin Zhu et al.

Summary: Artemisinin and its derivatives are potential anticancer drugs that induce cancer cell apoptosis, promote cell cycle arrest and autophagy, and inhibit cancer cell invasion and migration. They also increase intracellular Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) levels, leading to ferroptosis, a new form of cell death considered as a cancer suppressor and a novel mechanism for cancer therapy.

Tryptophan Promotes Intestinal Immune Defense through Calcium-Sensing Receptor (CaSR)-Dependent Metabolic Pathways

Nan Gao et al.

Summary: Tryptophan regulates intestinal immunity by promoting the expression of AMPs, specifically pBD1 and pBD2, through the CaSR-tryptophan metabolic pathways. Moreover, tryptophan alleviates intestinal inflammation induced by LPS both in vitro and in vivo by activating the CaSR-AMPK pathways, and maintaining kynurenine homeostasis during the inflammatory response.
