Tailoring the crystal forms of the Ni-MOF catalysts for enhanced photocatalytic CO2-to-CO performance

Kainan Song et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared two Ni-MOF catalysts with different crystal forms and found that Ni-MOF(H2O) exhibited superior catalytic performance in the photo-reduction of CO2. The higher yield and longer lifetime of the product CO can be attributed to its stronger adsorption capacity for CO2 and more efficient transfer and separation of photo-generated charge carriers.

Thermally activated construction of open metal sites on a Zn-organic framework: An effective strategy to enhance Lewis acid properties and catalytic performance for CO2 cycloaddition reactions

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO2 and epoxides utilizing MOFs with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites has been studied, highlighting the importance of constructing open metal sites (OMSs) on MOFs to enhance catalytic activity. A thermal treatment method was used to regulate the OMS content and Lewis acid properties of MOFs, with exposed Zn2+ sites showing good affinity for CO2 adsorption during the cycloaddition reaction. The catalytic activity of MOFs is closely related to the amount and strength of their Lewis acid centers, with moderate Lewis acid centers playing a more significant role in the catalytic activity.
