A highly sensitive and reproducible multiplex mycotoxin SERS array based on AuNPs-loaded inverse opal silica photonic crystal microsphere

Saisai Jiao et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive and reproducible multiplex mycotoxin SERS array has been established based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)-loaded inverse opal silica photonic crystal microsphere (SIPCM). This method, utilizing the competition immunoassay principle and three different Raman nanotags on SIPCM, shows wide linear detection ranges and low limits of detection for ochratoxin A (OTA), fumonisin B-1 (FB1), and deoxynivalenol (DON), with recovery rates comparable to the classical ELISA method. The SERS-based method exhibits advantages over fluorescence label or enzyme catalytic chemiluminescence methods, and has great potential in rapidly screening multiplex mycotoxins in real samples.

Aptamer-Target-Gold Nanoparticle Conjugates for the Quantification of Fumonisin B1

Vicente Antonio Miron-Merida et al.

Summary: The study assessed the performance of two aptamers (40 and 96 nt) in the colorimetric quantification of FB1 through an aptamer-target incubation step followed by the addition of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and NaCl. While MgCl2 and Tris-HCl were crucial for aptamer 96 and 40 nt, respectively, the latter was not specific for FB1. Instead, the formation of Aptamer (96 nt)-FB1-AuNP conjugates in MgCl2 exhibited stability to NaCl-induced aggregation at increasing FB1 concentrations. The application of asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) allowed for size separation and characterization with a reduction in the limit of detection from 0.002 mu g/mL to 56 fg/mL.
