Nontribological corrosion modes dominate wrought CoCrMo acetabular taper corrosion: A retrieval study

Aarti A. Shenoy et al.

Summary: The corrosion modes observed in metal-metal acetabular liners differ significantly from other areas and are dominated by electrochemically driven processes rather than mechanical processes. With the increasing prevalence of dual mobility hip implants, a better understanding of acetabular taper corrosion processes is crucial to limit their impact on device performance.

How to Choose a Proper Theoretical Analysis Model Based on Cell Adhesion and Nonadhesion Impedance Measurement

Mingji Wei et al.

Summary: The review discusses issues and suggestions regarding the design of electrode systems for cell adhesion-based and nonadhesion-based measurement, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of equivalent circuit models for different requirements. Factors influencing electric impedance spectroscopy are quantitatively analyzed to contribute to a better understanding of the equivalent models.

Microstructural aspects of Ti6Al4V degradation in H2O2-containing phosphate buffered saline

M. Prestat et al.

Summary: Exposure of Ti6Al4V surfaces to simulated inflammation conditions in H2O2-containing phosphate buffered saline with or without FeCl3 leads to significantly different degradation modes for the alpha and beta phases. The presence of FeCl3 enhances cathodic activity and beta phase degradation.

Exploring the biodegradation of pure Zn under simulated inflammatory condition

Xiao Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of inflammation on the corrosion behavior of biodegradable zinc for the first time. It was found that H2O2 and Fenton's reagent significantly influenced the degradation mechanism and corrosion product formation of zinc. The findings suggest that degradation as a biological consequence should be taken into consideration when evaluating biodegradable zinc materials.
