Thermoeconomic and environmental analysis and multi-criteria optimization of an innovative high-efficiency trigeneration system for a residential complex using LINMAP and TOPSIS decision-making methods

Sepehr Sanaye et al.

Summary: A combined cooling, heating, and power integrated system suitable for a residential complex was proposed and optimized through a comprehensive modeling approach. The selection of 14 gas engines and 9 backup boilers led to an overall thermal efficiency of 74% and a payback period of 1.6 years. The integrated system also showed significant savings in fuel volume flow rate, fuel cost, and reductions in emissions compared to traditional systems.

Consensus reaching for group decision making with multi-granular unbalanced linguistic information: A bounded confidence and minimum adjustment-based approach

Zhen Zhang et al.

Summary: The paper addresses the important topic of managing multi-granular unbalanced linguistic information in consensus-based group decision making. It introduces a simplified linguistic computational model and two optimization models to provide adjustment advice for decision makers. An algorithm is also proposed to help decision makers reach consensus in group decision making, with an application example and simulation results provided for illustration.

Towards minimization of overall inconsistency involved in criteria weights for improved decision making

Sameera Mufazzal et al.

Summary: In any multi-criteria decision making process, the role of criteria weights is crucial, as any inconsistency can lead to inaccurate assessments and suboptimal selections. This study introduces a novel subjective method for determining optimal criteria weights using an 'Error Index' for formulating a non-linear constrained optimization model solved by Particle Swarm Optimization technique.

Ranking range model in multiple attribute decision making: A comparison of selected methods

Yating Liu et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the ranking range of seven popular MADM approaches, presents desirable properties of the ranking range, and compares the ranking range through simulation experiments with either random or real data. The experiment results clearly show that TOPSIS>ELECTRE>PROMETHEE(similar to)WA>WGA>OWA>OWGA in the average sense. A larger ranking range means it is easier to manipulate the ranking of alternatives, but also indicates worse robustness of a MADM approach.

Hazard identification, risk assessment and control for dam construction safety using an integrated BWM and MARCOS approach under interval type-2 fuzzy sets environment

Erkan Celik et al.

Summary: Dams play a crucial role in optimal water use and hydroelectric energy generation, but it is equally important to identify and analyze risks from the perspective of occupational health and safety during construction and operation. This study developed a novel approach for dam construction safety, merging two newly proposed multicriteria decision-making methods under the context of interval type-2 fuzzy sets. The approach weighted essential risk parameters and determined priority orders of hazards, suggesting control measures for stakeholders in the blasting process of dam construction. Comparative works and sensitivity analyses were performed to test the approach's validity and solidity.
