Perovskite enables high performance vanadium redox flow battery

Yingqiao Jiang et al.

Summary: Perovskites, such as LaBO3 (B = V, Cr, Mn), demonstrate superior electrochemical kinetics in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) due to their activity towards vanadium redox reactions. The catalysis is attributed to the active B-O bindings and perovskite structure, promoting the adsorption of vanadium ions. Perovskites also provide more active sites for the redox reactions, resulting in a boosted electron exchange and higher energy efficiency in the VRFBs.
