The study utilized a thermosetting resin with bond exchange reaction and found it to exhibit higher interfacial shear strength. By combining finite element simulation and experimental data, the interface parameters were successfully derived and the pull-out force-displacement curves were in good agreement with experimental results. The study further discussed the interfacial stress transfer and debonding failure behavior.
Reversible bond exchange reaction gives Vitrimer resin the advantages of being recyclable and reprocessing. So the characterization of the interfacial bonding properties between Vitrimer and carbon fibre is of great interest for aerospace applications. In this study, a kind of thermosetting resin containing bond exchange reaction was configured by adding zinc acetylacetonate catalyst to the conventional thermosetting resin. The force-displacement curve was obtained by microbond tests, and the experimental results showed that the newly configured resin has higher interfacial shear strength. A finite element simulation was established based on cohesive contact model (CZM), and the interface parameters of the CZM were inverted by using finite element update method (FEUM) in combination with the experimental data. And the pull-out force-displacement curves obtained from the numerical simulation are in good agreement with the experimental data. The interfacial stress transfer and debonding failure behavior is further discussed.
