Tunable Three-Body Interactions in Driven Two-Component Bose-Einstein Condensates

A. Hammond et al.

Summary: Researchers propose and demonstrate the existence of an effective attractive three-body interaction in coherently driven two-component Bose-Einstein condensates. This interaction originates from the spinor degree of freedom affected by a two-body mean-field shift of the driven transition frequency. The strength of this interaction can be controlled using the Rabi-coupling strength and does not result in additional losses. In the experiment, the three-body interactions are adjusted to play a predominant role in the equation of state of a cigar-shaped trapped condensate.

Three-body and Coulomb interactions in a quasi-two-dimensional dipolar Bose-condensed gas

Seyed Mostafa Moniri et al.

Summary: In this study, we numerically analyze the effects of three-body contact and Coulomb interactions on the energy spectrum and noncondensate fraction in a dilute quasi-two-dimensional dipolar Bose-condensed system. The results show that increasing the three-body contact and Coulomb interactions results in rotonization and condensate instability under stronger dipole-dipole interaction. Additionally, the temperature dependence of the thermal noncondensate fraction is found to be linear at low temperature.

Infinite dipolar droplet: A simple theory for the macrodroplet regime

Sukla Pal et al.

Summary: In this paper, a theory for an infinitely long droplet state of a zero-temperature dipolar bosonic gas is developed, and the behavior of the droplet is explored using numerical and variational solutions. The theory provides a quantitative description of large finite droplets produced in experiments.

Quantum Droplets of Dipolar Mixtures

R. N. Bisset et al.

Summary: The recent achievement of two-component dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates has opened up exciting possibilities for studying mixtures of ultradilute quantum liquids, resulting in various ground-state phases. The formation of self-bound immiscible droplets is possible due to mutual nonlocal intercomponent attraction. Additionally, quantum fluctuations in the majority component critically modify the miscibility of impurities.

New states of matter with fine-tuned interactions: quantum droplets and dipolar supersolids

Fabian Boettcher et al.

Summary: This paper discusses how quantum fluctuations can stabilize Bose-Einstein condensates and lead to the emergence of new states of matter such as liquid-like self-bound quantum droplets and supersolid crystals. The properties of these exotic states and the experimental progress in dipolar quantum gases and Bose-Bose mixtures are reviewed. Important open questions for future research are also outlined.

Pattern formation in quantum ferrofluids: From supersolids to superglasses

J. Hertkorn et al.

Summary: The study investigates the phase diagram of two-dimensional quantum ferrofluids formed from ultracold atoms in different trap geometries, revealing the dominance of two-dimensional supersolid crystals at low densities and the presence of honeycomb, labyrinthine states, and a pumpkin phase at higher densities. The research sheds light on the various patterns of quantum ferrofluids and demonstrates that their occurrence is common in strongly dipolar interacting systems stabilized by effects beyond mean-field.

Phases of supersolids in confined dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

Yong-Chang Zhang et al.

Summary: This work explores the signatures of different geometries in confined finite condensates of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates, revealing a rich spectrum of states from honeycomb patterns to striped supersolids. By optimizing relevant parameters, transitions between distinct supersolids should be observable in current experiments.

Multiring, stripe, and superlattice solitons in a spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 condensate

S. K. Adhikari

Summary: Exotic stable quasi-two-dimensional solitons are demonstrated in a Rashba or a Dresselhaus spin-orbit (SO)-coupled hyperfine spin-1 trapless antiferromagnetic Bose-Einstein condensate using the mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The solitons exhibit different structures and patterns based on the strength of the SO coupling, ranging from intrinsic vorticity to multiring structures with superlattice and stripe solitons.
