Evaluation of coating resistivity for pigmented/unpigmented epoxy coatings under marine alternating hydrostatic pressure

Fandi Meng et al.

Summary: Different physical models for fitting EIS data were developed for epoxy coatings with and without pigments, in order to realize a rapid evaluation of coating degradation under AHP. The resistivity profile was calculated as a critical parameter to describe the anti-permeability of coatings at different immersion times. The interpretation of water diffusion dynamics based on different coating structures was also given, which influenced the choice of distribution models.

Environmentally Friendly Tannic Acid Multilayer Coating for Reducing Corrosion of Carbon Steel

Christy M. Koerner et al.

Summary: In this study, a 60 nm thick TA/PEI multilayer coating was successfully developed using LbL assembly, which effectively prevented carbon steel corrosion in deionized water for at least one month. This corrosion resistance was achieved through water stability based on ionic bonding and surface adhesion based on coordination bonding. Additionally, the COO-free components used in this coating make it more environmentally friendly.

Enhanced Electrochemical Performance of Hydrothermally Exfoliated Hexagonal Boron Nitride Nanosheets for Applications in Electrochemistry

Kanika Sharma et al.

Summary: The synthesis of hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (h-BNNS) through a top-down method with unique oxidation resistance properties has opened up possibilities for their use in various electrochemical applications. Characterizations reveal the incorporation of induced strain, multifunctional groups, and few layers of h-BNNS with large lateral size and low surface roughness. Electrochemical studies demonstrate enhanced redox peaks, increased electroactive surface area, and reduced charge transfer resistance, highlighting the potential of h-BNNS in areas such as sensing, anticorrosion, energy conversion, and energy storage.

Preparation of a BTA-UIO-GO nanocomposite to endow coating systems with active inhibition and passive anticorrosion performances

Haidong Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanocomposite with both active and passive corrosion protection abilities was synthesized. The nanocomposite utilized a metal organic framework(UIO-66) as a nanocontainer to encapsulate a corrosion inhibitor (BTA) and graphene oxide(GO) as a physical barrier, achieving effective protection for metals. The active protection was achieved through pH-stimulated release of inhibitors from nanocontainers and the formation of passive film (ZrO2) from disintegrated UIO-66 under alkaline conditions, while the passive protection was provided by the excellent barrier property of GO.
