Elucidating the role of La3+/Sm3+ in the carbon paths of dry reforming of methane over Ni/Ce-La(Sm)-Cu-O using transient kinetics and isotopic techniques

Constantinos M. Damaskinos et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of La3+ and Sm3+ heteroatoms in a catalytic system on carbon deposition and removal in the dry reforming of methane. The results show that Ni nanoparticles supported on La3+-doped ceria have higher initial rates of carbon oxidation and lower rates of carbon accumulation compared to Ni nanoparticles supported on Sm3+-doped ceria.

Tuning Metal-Support Interactions on Ni/Al2O3 Catalysts to Improve Catalytic Activity and Stability for Dry Reforming of Methane

Lulu He et al.

Summary: Increasing the calcination temperature of nickel-based catalysts on alumina leads to the formation of nickel-alumina spinel, enhancing metal-support interaction and reducing temperature. It also decreases nickel nanoparticle size and increases effective dispersion due to the formation of nickel aluminate. The catalyst calcined at 750 degrees C shows the highest conversion rates in methane dry reforming and excellent stability in a 200 h test.

Microkinetic and sensitivity analysis of oxidative dry reforming of methane on Ni-Co catalyst using a reaction mechanism based on Ni

A. S. Russel et al.

Summary: The microkinetic modelling of dry reforming of methane (DRM) with O-2 co-feed shows that feeding O-2 improves CH4 conversion, reduces carbon deposition, and increases H-2/CO ratio. Microkinetic analysis reveals that the surface coverage of empty sites tracks CH4 conversion, while the H-2/CO ratio is directly related to surface H* and CO* coverages. Sensitivity analysis highlights that CH4 dissociation is the rate-determining step for the ODRM reaction.
