Development of accurate automated language identification model using polymer pattern and tent maximum absolute pooling techniques

Turker Tuncer et al.

Summary: This paper presents an automated high accuracy language identification model that utilizes polymer pattern and tent maximum absolute pooling methods to extract both low and high frequency features. It also introduces a threshold-based iterative feature selector to choose the most informative features. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 97.87% and 99.70% using the newly developed and VoxForge datasets, respectively, with kNN classifier and tenfold cross-validation.

Aleatory-aware deep uncertainty quantification for transfer learning

H. M. Dipu Kabir et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an aleatory-aware Deep UQ method for classification problems by using transfer learning and numeric output posteriors. The method captures the opacity level of samples through probability calculation based on K-nearest output posteriors. It also explores the effect of different training parameters on prediction and uncertainty by training multiple DNNs. The paper also demonstrates the application of uncertainty quantification in a patient referral framework.

The Necessity of Leave One Subject Out (LOSO) Cross Validation for EEG Disease Diagnosis

Sajeev Kunjan et al.

Summary: This study highlights the importance of leave-one-subject-out evaluation for machine learning based on scalp recorded EEG signals. It also shows the effectiveness of Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) in achieving high accuracy on unseen subjects from clean EEG data. LOSO evaluation with carefully corrupted data indicates that k-fold classification results may be misleading for disease diagnosis.
