Room temperature synthesis of high-quality Ce(IV)-based MOFs in water

Various new approaches were used to successfully synthesize crystalline terephthalate-based UiO66(Ce), fumarate-based UiO-66(Ce) and Ce-MOF-808 at room temperature. These novel, rapid, simple, reproducible, inexpensive, energetically efficient, and environmentally benign methodologies provide new strategies for the preparation of tetravalent metal based MOFs, which are generally scarce compared to the whole number of known MOFs, particularly at room temperature.
