Comparative Investigation on Chlorobenzene Oxidation by Oxygen and Ozone over a MnOx/Al2O3 Catalyst in the Presence of SO2

Fawei Lin et al.

Summary: This study compares the effects of oxygen and ozone on chlorobenzene oxidation over a simple Mn/Al2O3 catalyst. It was found that ozone can efficiently oxidize chlorobenzene at low temperature and maintain the original conversion rate, mainly due to its strong oxidation property which promotes the oxidation cycle and protects MnOx species from severe erosion.

Effect of the A-site cation over spinel AMn2O4 (A = Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+) for toluene combustion: Enhancement of the synergy and the oxygen activation ability

Yongzhao Zhang et al.

Summary: Through substituting A(2+) and Mn3+, the study investigated the impact of the structure of AMn(2)O(4) spinel catalysts on toluene oxidation. The results showed that the catalytic activity is influenced by the substitution of A-site metal, enhancing low-temperature reducibility and chemisorption oxygen activity. The incorporation of A-site metal can improve the ability of the catalyst to activate molecular state oxygen, thus enhancing catalytic activity.

Double redox process to synthesize CuO-CeO2 catalysts with strong Cu-Ce interaction for efficient toluene oxidation

Yiqing Zeng et al.

Summary: A novel double redox method was developed to synthesize highly active CuO-CeO2 (CuCe-DR) catalyst, which exhibits higher Ce3+ and Cu2+ ion concentrations and stronger Cu-Ce interaction compared to CuCe-C catalyst. CuCe-DR catalyst shows higher toluene oxidation performance and stability at low temperatures, attributed to the increased surface chemisorbed oxygen and improved redox properties.

Balance of activation and ring-breaking for toluene oxidation over CuO-MnOx bimetallic oxides

Shangchao Xiong et al.

Summary: CuMn bimetallic oxides were synthesized for the catalytic oxidation of toluene in this study, with Cu2Mn1 showing the highest oxidation rate and benzoic acid as the only observed intermediate. DFT simulations revealed that in the O-Cu-O-Mn-O structure, Mn-O site was more effective for activation while Cu-O primarily acted as an adsorption site.

Insight into the catalytic performance and reaction routes for toluene total oxidation over facilely prepared Mn-Cu bimetallic oxide catalysts

Jian-Rong Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mn-Cu bimetallic oxide catalysts were prepared by one-step hydrothermal-redox method for catalytic total oxidation of toluene. The MnCu spinel structured catalyst exhibited excellent low-temperature catalytic activity, superior durability, and water resistance, with a reaction rate 7.0 times higher than that of MnCu0.5 at 210 ?C. The cyclic redox process with enough oxygen vacancy played a vital role in toluene oxidation.
