Crystal facet engineering of BiVO4/CQDs/TPP with improved charge transfer efficiency for photocatalytic water oxidation

Wanjun Sun et al.

Summary: By introducing TPP to control the preferential growth of BiVO4 (010) crystal surface, a novel ternary BiVO4/CQDs/TPP photocatalyst was constructed, showing an enhanced water oxidation rate with efficient electron-hole transfer between TPP and BiVO4 via CQDs as electron mediator. The surface photovoltage and transient absorption spectroscopy confirmed the efficient charge behavior, and density functional theory calculation revealed the more energetically favorable water dissociation on the (010) facet surface of BiVO4/CQDs/TPP-60 compared to pristine BiVO4.

Light-Driven CO2 Reduction over Prussian Blue Analogues as Heterogeneous Catalysts

Xiangyu Meng et al.

Summary: The study utilized 10 Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as heterogeneous catalysts for photocatalytic CO2RR, showing good photocatalytic performance for CO production. Ni-Co PBA exhibited a mass evolution rate of 140 mmol g(-1) h(-1, an apparent quantum efficiency (AQY) of about 0.7%, and a selectivity of about 96.8% for CO. The CO2RR activities of (MCo)-Co-II PBAs are better than those of M-II-Fe PBAs, but the former's selectivities for CO are lower than those of the latter.

Constructing NiFe-metal-organic frameworks from NiFe-layered double hydroxide as a highly efficient cocatalyst for BiVO4 photoanode PEC water splitting

Yan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a NiFe-metal-organic frameworks (NiFe-MOFs) cocatalyst was prepared and integrated with BiVO4 to construct a composite photoanode, leading to significant improvements in photocurrent density and stability. The NiFe-MOFs enhanced the incident photon-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) and improved the injection and separation efficiency of charge carriers, thus promoting the kinetics of water oxidation.

Integrating Mo2Bx (x=1, 4) with CdS for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production

Xiangyu Meng et al.

Summary: Molybdenum based compounds, such as MoCx, MoSe2, MoS2 MoPx, MoOx and their derivatives, have been considered as alternative catalysts to platinum in hydrogen evolution reactions. Mo2Bx (x = 1 or 4) has been investigated for the first time as active components in a visible-light driven photocatalytic hydrogen production system, showing excellent hydrogen evolution activities. The electron deficient atom boron (B) content in Mo2Bx samples affects their photocatalytic activities, with Mo B-2(4) exhibiting better activity than Mo2B due to differences in electron transfer rates.
