Unfolded Protein Corona Surrounding Nanotubes Influence the Innate and Adaptive Immune System

Jun-Young Park et al.

Summary: The protein corona surrounding nanoparticles significantly influences the subsequent immune response, with highly unfolded protein corona structures correlated with activation of proinflammatory cytokines and innate immune responses. This study clarified that the immune response mediated by the protein corona is greatly dependent on the type of plasma proteins surrounding the nanoparticles.

Functionalized Reduced Graphene Oxide as a Versatile Tool for Cancer Therapy

Banendu Sunder Dash et al.

Summary: Nanomedicine using carbon-based nanomaterials, especially reduced graphene oxide (rGO), has shown promising potential in cancer therapy due to its ability to carry drugs and act as a photothermal agent. Functionalized rGO can be designed as multifunctional nanosystems with temperature/pH-dependent drug/gene delivery abilities for multimodal cancer therapy. Additional advantages like high biocompatibility, targeted delivery, and enhanced photothermal effects further enhance the potential of functionalized rGO in cancer treatment.

Carbon nanotube/graphene nanocomposites built via surfactant-mediated colloid assembly as metal-free catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction

Barbara Abreu et al.

Summary: In this study, a colloid-based approach was used to fabricate GnP@MWNT nanocomposites as electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. The type of dispersant was found to have a more relevant role in influencing the ORR parameters compared to the specific building method.
