Alloying of Alkali Metals with Tellurene

Rishabh Jain et al.

Summary: This study investigates the alloying response between alkali metals and few-layer tellurene, revealing the formation of A(2)Te alloys. While the crystalline order of the alloyed products varies, it is surprising that tellurene can retain its crystallinity especially when reacting with lithium. Furthermore, the isotropic lithium transport in tellurene enables it to exhibit stable volumetric capacity, making it a promising alternative to conventional graphite anodes in lithium-ion batteries.

Electrochemically captured Zintl cluster-induced bismuthene for sodium-ion storage

Jiayang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, bismuthene was prepared through the oxidation of Zintl clusters by electrochemical cathodic corrosion. It was observed that the conversion from Bi-2(2-) to Bi-2 occurred faster in electrolytes with short alkyl chains due to the kinetics of highly reactive carbocations. The presence of a wide peak in the CV curve for the as-obtained bismuthene, monitored by in situ XRD, indicated improvements in its electrochemical performances.
