Dodecylamine coordinated tri-arm CdS nanorod wrapped in intermittent ZnS shell for greatly improved photocatalytic H2 evolution

Guotai Sun et al.

Summary: A new photocatalyst, tri-arm CdS/ZnS core-shell nanorod, shows significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance with improved quantum efficiency and hydrogen evolution rate. This enhancement is attributed to the win-win situation between the CdS/ZnS heterojunction and the H+ adsorption resulting from DDA molecules.

Enhancing the Sensitivity of Photoelectrochemical DNA Biosensing Using Plasmonic DNA Barcodes and Differential Signal Readout

Amanda Victorious et al.

Summary: The study developed a new PEC biosensing strategy that increases the detection sensitivity and specificity of DNA biosensors in biological samples by combining signals from two related binding events using differential signal generation. This new strategy demonstrated a detection limit of 3 fM, showing up to a 15- and three-fold increase in limit of detection and sensitivity, respectively, compared to previous PEC assays with a single binding event.

Nanozyme-Activated Synergistic Amplification for Ultrasensitive Photoelectrochemical Immunoassay

Guojuan Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, PdPt bimetallic nanozymes were used as efficient alternatives to natural enzymes in photoelectrochemical biosensing systems, leading to amplified signals and enhanced performance. By modifying photoactive CdS nanorods with PdPt bimetallic nanozymes, a sensitive PEC immunoassay for CEA detection was successfully constructed, achieving a wider linear range and lower detection limit. This research demonstrates the potential of using nanozymes for developing ultrasensitive PEC biosensors, with improved performance and signal amplification.

Plasma-assisted doping of nitrogen into cobalt sulfide for loading cadmium sulfide: A direct Z-scheme heterojunction for efficiently photocatalytic Cr (VI) reduction under visible light

Lixiang Zhang et al.

Summary: A direct Z-scheme heterojunction was constructed by loading CdS on nitrogen-doped cobalt sulfide (N-CoSx) through N-2 plasma treatment, leading to enhanced photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction efficiency. The CdS/N-CoSx nanocomposites showed improved performance due to plasma-assisted N doping, forming suitable band structures for efficient charge separation and transferring. The resulting nanocomposites exhibited up to 100% Cr(VI) reduction efficiency within 25 minutes, making them promising for large-scale applications in environmental remediation.
