Reaction kinetic acceleration induced by atomic-hybridized channels in carbon quantum dot/ReS2 composites for efficient Cr(VI) reduction

Gang Zhou et al.

Summary: Utilizing an atomic-hybridized strategy to construct an electronic channel significantly accelerates the hexavalent chromium reduction reaction over ReS2 nanosheets with carbon quantum dots. This simple and feasible method enhances the reaction rate and provides new insights for designing efficient photocatalysts.

Ultrathin nanoflake-assembled hierarchical BiOBr microflower with highly exposed {001} facets for efficient photocatalytic degradation of gaseous ortho-dichlorobenzene

Juanjuan Sun et al.

Summary: A series of BiOBr catalysts with different microstructures were synthesized by adjusting solvothermal conditions. The hierarchical BiOBr microflower (BiOBr MF) was found to be the most efficient in promoting charge carrier separation and migration, leading to superior photocatalytic activity in the degradation of gaseous ortho-dichlorobenzene (o-DCB) under visible light irradiation. The enhanced charge transfer mechanism was revealed through energy band structures and reactive oxygen species analysis.

Structural and optical amendment of PVDF into CQDs through high temperature calcination process

Gun Anit Kaur et al.

Summary: A controlled and successful high temperature calcination of PVDF was performed to synthesize high quality CQDs, with an average crystallite size of around 1.9 nm and intense G-band in Raman spectrum. The speculation of the suppression of oxygen containing functional groups was supported by the variation of FTIR spectrum. XPS and UV-Vis absorption spectrum confirmed the highly stable and rich carbon content of C=C group in CQDs. FE-SEM and TEM showed the spherical distribution of quantum dots with an average size of -2.6 nm.

Optimizing electron structure of Zn-doped AgFeO2 with abundant oxygen vacancies to boost photocatalytic activity for Cr(VI) reduction and organic pollutants decomposition: DFT insights and experimental

Chenxi Li et al.

Summary: The study successfully enhanced the photocatalytic activity of Zn-doped AgFeO2 in Cr(VI) reduction and azophloxine decomposition using a DFT calculated Zn-doped AgFeO2 model. The Zn-doped AgFeO2 exhibited higher reducing capacity compared to unmodified AgFeO2, leading to more effective degradation of Cr(VI).
