Summary: Fe-Ni/AC-activated persulfate was synthesized for the degradation of PAHs in contaminated soil, showing significant removal efficiency and the development of a neural network model for predicting PAH degradation. The study identified various degradation products and unexpected intermediate products in the PAH-contaminated soil samples, highlighting the efficiency of Fe-Ni/AC-activated persulfate for PAH removal and soil remediation.

Facilitated Activation of Peroxymonosulfate by Loading ZIF-8 on Fe3O4-MnO2 for Deep Mineralization of Bisphenol A

Summary: The hierarchically structured Fe3O4-MnO2-ZIF-8 composite was successfully synthesized and applied for the first time to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) and other organic pollutants. The composite showed highly efficient catalytic activity and convenient recyclability for BPA degradation, as well as excellent removal capability for various organic pollutants. The mechanism of PMS activation, intermediates in BPA degradation, and possible degradation pathway were investigated, demonstrating the high efficiency of Fe3O4-MnO2-ZIF-8 as a catalytic material for pollutant removal in water.

Rapid and long-lasting acceleration of zero-valent iron nanoparticles@Ti3C2-based MXene/peroxymonosulfate oxidation with bi-active centers toward ranitidine removal

Summary: Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) were used to degrade ranitidine, a precursor of nitrosamine dimethylamine (NDMA), using novel magnetic Ti3C2-based MXene nanosheets decorated with nanoscale zero-valent iron particles (nZVIPs@Ti3C2 nanosheets). The reaction was driven by catalytic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation, with response surface methodology (RSM) confirming the importance of solution pH and PMS dosage. The catalytic activity was attributed to charge transfer between active centers, and Density functional theory (DFT) calculations supported the bi-active centers for PMS activation and thermodynamically favorable reactions.

Synthesis of nZVI-Ni@BC composite as a stable catalyst to activate persulfate: Trichloroethylene degradation and insight mechanism

Summary: The study shows that the nZVI-Ni@BC composite material performs well in activating PS to degrade chlorinated contaminants in water, achieving over 99% TCE degradation. The experimental results also indicate that in acidic environments, both SO4·- and OH· radicals play a dominant role in TCE degradation, while high levels of carbonates, bicarbonates, and NOM inhibit the oxidation reaction of TCE.
