Femtosecond laser textured porous nanowire structured glass for enhanced thermal imaging

Tingni Wu et al.

Summary: Infrared (IR) thermal imaging has wide applications in various fields. We propose a simple and effective method using femtosecond laser scanning to process porous glass, improving its IR thermal radiation performance. The treated glass has lower transmittance to visible light but shows a closer temperature to the actual environment in different backgrounds, providing a new vision for enhanced thermal imaging.

The structure and permeability of the disordered layer prepared by freeze-casting

Jiangtao Li et al.

Summary: Asymmetric ceramic membranes with varying disordered layers were prepared by adjusting the alumina content in the ceramic slurry. The disordered layers were found to contain spherical micropores and interconnected meshy pores, affecting airflow state, inertial flow velocity, and filter resistance. The permeability of the membranes is influenced by pore size, specific surface area, and channel complexity in the disordered layer.

Solar-driven thermal-wind synergistic effect on laser-textured superhydrophilic copper foam architectures for ultrahigh efficient vapor generation

Kai Yin et al.

Summary: Solar-driven vapor generation is enhanced by combining thermal and wind effects on a superhydrophilic copper foam surface, increasing the rate of water evaporation. The treated surface absorbs significant solar power which can be converted into heat for steam generation, while a pre-wetted sponge minimizes heat loss and helps maintain high evaporation rates.

Fabrication of high permeability SiC ceramic membrane with gradient pore structure by one-step freeze-casting process

Lijuan Huang et al.

Summary: By optimizing the preparation process, the multilayer microstructures, mechanical properties, and filtering performances of freeze-casting SiC ceramic membranes can be controlled. Increasing the solid content narrows the directional pore channels and improves mechanical properties, while increasing coarse particle content thickens separation layers and transition layers to enhance permeability efficiency.
