Evaluation of stability and functionality of BaCe1-xInxO3-δ electrolyte in a wider range of indium concentration

Aleksandar Malesevic et al.

Summary: The properties of BaCe1-xInxO3-delta as a proton conducting electrolyte were examined. BaCe0.75In0.25O3-delta showed the highest total conductivity in a wet hydrogen atmosphere. A minimum of 15 mol% In was able to completely suppress electrolyte degradation in a pure CO2 atmosphere. The fuel cell tested in a wet hydrogen atmosphere demonstrated high power density.

Influence of Sc concentration on transport properties of CaHf1-xScxO3-α

Yushi Ding et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of CaHf1-xScxO3-alpha perovskite oxides were prepared by solid-state reaction, showing improved conductivity and proton transport properties with Sc-doping. However, conductivity decreased at x > 0.2, and CaHf0.85Sc0.15O3-alpha exhibited the highest conductivity. The conduction activation energy of CaHfO3 significantly decreased with Sc-doping between 0.66 to 1.52 eV.

Tailoring electronic structure of perovskite cathode for proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells with high performance

Xi Xu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that tailoring the electronic structure of perovskite oxide with Mo-doping leads to improvements in cathode materials for proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells. The Mo-doping changes the electronic structure of the oxide, making the metal-oxygen bond less strong and the surface more active towards oxygen reduction, resulting in more feasible oxygen vacancy formation critical for protonation. The electric field induced by Mo-doping provides an additional driving force for proton movement, accelerating proton migration in the oxide and improving cathode performance.
