MCU Overexpression Rescues Inotropy and Reverses Heart Failure by Reducing SR Ca2+ Leak

Ting Liu et al.

Summary: Moderate overexpression of mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter (MCU) in failing hearts improves contractility and beta-adrenergic responses by reducing oxidative stress-induced SR Ca2+ leak. This overexpression also reverses heart failure and inhibits ectopic ventricular arrhythmias.
