Understanding of the Key Factors Determining the Activity and Selectivity of CuZn Catalysts in Hydrogenolysis of Alkyl Esters to Alcohols

Oleg Kikhtyanin et al.

Summary: CuZn catalysts are promising for ester hydrogenolysis, but their catalytic performance can be optimized through a better understanding of the composition impact on activity, selectivity, and stability. Experimental results show that the Cu/Zn ratio influences the catalyst's activity and selectivity, while stability is correlated with changes in particle size. The optimal composition for good performance in ester hydrogenolysis can be determined based on the obtained results.

A comprehensive review of biodiesel production from waste cooking oil and its use as fuel in compression ignition engines: 3rd generation cleaner feedstock

Digambar Singh et al.

Summary: The latest research on fuels has focused on exploring better alternatives for compression ignition engines, with biodiesel from waste cooking oil being identified as a viable source. The two-step transesterification method is preferred for commercial-scale biodiesel production due to the high free fatty acids and water content in waste cooking oil. Factors such as catalyst concentration, alcohol to oil molar ratio, reaction temperature, and time of reaction all affect the yield of biodiesel.

Evaluation on feedstock, technologies, catalyst and reactor for sustainable biodiesel production: A review

Mohd Nurfirdaus Bin Mohiddin et al.

Summary: The development of biodiesel as an alternative to fossil fuels has been driven by the detrimental impact of fossil fuel utilization on the environment. The production of biodiesel involves transesterification, with factors such as feedstock and catalyst type and amount, alcohol-to-feedstock ratio, and reaction conditions affecting the quantity and quality of biodiesel produced. Recent studies have focused on improving the efficiency of biodiesel reactors for commercial production.
