Continuous fixed-bed column study and adsorption modeling removal of Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions from synthetic acid mine drainage by nanocomposite cellulose hydrogel

Musamba Banza et al.

Summary: The removal of heavy metal ions using nanocomposite hydrogel is a promising method for industrial applications. In this study, modified cellulose nanocrystals were found to be effective in removing various contaminants from wastewater. The effects of bed height, influent concentration, and feed flow rate on the removal efficiency of Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, and Cd2+ ions were evaluated, and several models were used to predict the breakthrough curves of heavy metal ion removal.

Hairpin RNA genetic algorithm based ANFIS for modeling overhead cranes

Xiaohua Zhu et al.

Summary: The translation introduces a method called adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and a RNA genetic algorithm with hairpin genetic operators (hRNA-GA) for obtaining high precision models. The results of numerical experiments show that hRNA-GA has better search ability in terms of quality and stability of solutions.

Modification of clinoptilolite with dialkylphosphinic acid for the selective removal of cobalt (II) and nickel (II) from hydrometallurgical effluent

John Kabuba et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the selective removal of cobalt (II) and nickel (II) from hydrometallurgical effluent using modified clinoptilolite. Experimental data fit well with pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm model, indicating the efficiency of the process. Thermodynamic parameters were also evaluated to further understand the removal mechanism.
