Artificial neural network model effectively estimates muscle and fat mass using simple demographic and anthropometric measures

Summary: In this study, simple demographic and anthropometric measure-driven artificial neural network (ANN) models were developed to estimate lean muscle and fat mass more effectively than multiple linear regression (MLR) models. The ANN models yielded higher values of coefficient of determination (R2) and lower values of standard error of estimate (SEE) compared to the MLR models in all cases. These results demonstrate the effectiveness and affordability of using easily obtainable demographic and anthropometric data for estimating body composition.

Objective sleep assessments for healthy people in environmental research: A literature review

Summary: This paper reviewed the assessments of objective sleep quality used in environmental research, compared their accuracy and interference, and analyzed the impact of experimental type and subjects' information on method selection. The results showed that actigraphy, respiratory monitoring-oxygen saturation monitoring, and electrocardiograph had high accuracy. Multiple methods were more accurate and less interfering with sleep compared to single methods. Experimental type significantly influenced method selection.

The results showed that higher air temperature, CO2 concentration, and noise level led to poor sleep quality in summer.
