Extra-axillary nodal metastases in breast cancer: comparison of ultrasound, MRI, PET/CT, and CT

Hannah L. Chung et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive abilities of ultrasound, MRI, PET/CT, and CT in detecting extra-axillary nodal metastases. Ultrasound showed high accuracy in both supraclavicular and internal mammary regions, while PET/CT and CT had varying levels of accuracy in different regions. In cases where suspicious nodes were not directly sampled, MRI or PET/CT can be used to guide treatment decisions.

Atlas of sentinel lymph nodes in early breast cancer using single-photon emission computed tomography: implication for lymphatic contouring

Sergey Nikolaevich Novikov et al.

Summary: In a cohort of breast cancer patients, SPECT-CT was used to accurately localize SLNs and evaluate the definition of CTV-LN. The majority of SLNs were covered by ESTRO and RTOG contours, but some SLNs were located outside the contours, especially in the lateral subgroup of axillary level I.
