Pan-Piscine Orthoreovirus (PRV) Detection Using Reverse Transcription Quantitative PCR

Summary: Piscine orthoreovirus (PRV) infects salmon and trout species globally, with three distinct genotypes currently identified. A new RT-qPCR assay has been developed to detect all PRV genotypes with high sensitivity and specificity, showing 100% agreement in test results between laboratories. This assay provides a single test for highly sensitive pan-specific PRV detection, suitable for research, diagnostic, and surveillance purposes.
