The relationship between consumption of pornography and consensual sexual practice: Results of a mixed method systematic review

Alan McKee et al.

Summary: The systematic review found limited research explicitly addressing sexual consent with regards to pornography consumption. Existing literature on the relationship between pornography consumption and sexual aggression/violence lacks differentiation between consensual and nonconsensual acts. Majority of studies incorrectly attribute causality to pornography consumption when identifying correlations with aspects of sexual health.

Summary: This study developed a reliable scale to assess a wide range of pornography use motivations (PUM) in general populations, including sexual pleasure, sexual curiosity, and stress reduction.
