The Effect of Body Weight and Alcohol Consumption on Hyperuricemia and Their Population Attributable Fractions: A National Health Survey in China

Summary: The prevalence of hyperuricemia is increasing in mainland China, and excess body weight and alcohol consumption are major modifiable risk factors. Based on a national survey, weight loss and reduction of alcohol consumption are effective strategies for preventing hyperuricemia, but there are significant differences in population attributable fractions based on gender and geographic location.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the influence of occupational cement dust exposure on white blood cells and inflammatory markers in workers. Results showed that the total white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, and eosinophil count were significantly higher in the cement dust-exposed group compared to the control group. Prolonged exposure to toxic dust has a significant impact on white blood cell count.
