Metabolite profiling of violet, white and pink flowers revealing flavonoids composition patterns in Rhododendron pulchrum Sweet

Shuzhen Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the composition of petal pigment constituents in three different colored Rhododendron pulchrum cultivars was clarified using a metabolomic approach. The differences among cultivars were mainly attributed to flavone and C-glycosylated flavone metabolites. The accumulation of total flavonoids showed a clear phenotypic variation among the cultivars.

Regulation of MYB Transcription Factors of Anthocyanin Synthesis in Lily Flowers

Xiaojuan Yin et al.

Summary: The study revealed that LvMYB5 plays a promoting role in flower color formation in lilies, while LvMYB1 acts as an inhibitor. These findings provide a theoretical basis for improving flower color through genetic engineering and offer a new direction for further research on the mechanisms of flower color formation in lilies.

Anthocyanin Genes Involved in the Flower Coloration Mechanisms of Cymbidium kanran

Zhuang Zhou et al.

Summary: This study used Cymbidium kanran as experimental materials to elucidate the mechanism of flower coloration. Through analysis and comparative transcriptome sequencing, 102 candidate genes related to coloration were identified. Results showed that four of the captured genes positively correlated with anthocyanidin biosynthesis, providing valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms of regulating floral pigment accumulation in orchids.

Differential expressions of anthocyanin synthesis genes underlie flower color divergence in a sympatric Rhododendron sanguineum complex

Lin-Jiang Ye et al.

Summary: Our study revealed that different varieties of the Rhododendron sanguineum complex exhibit distinctive flower color variations with underlying genetic mechanisms involving anthocyanin biosynthesis-related genes. The results suggest a close relationship between genetic mechanisms for floral coloration and the divergence of flower color in the complex, potentially leading to sympatric speciation mediated by pollinators.

Integrated metabolome and transcriptome analysis of the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway in relation to color mutation in miniature roses

Jiaojiao Lu et al.

Summary: This study identified key genes and metabolites involved in the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway in miniature roses. The color mutant Queen rose had higher levels of anthocyanins and upregulated anthocyanin biosynthetic related genes compared to the Neptune King rose. This research provides valuable insights for manipulating anthocyanin pathways to engineer novel miniature rose cultivars with specific colors.

Metabolome and transcriptome analysis of flavor components and flavonoid biosynthesis in fig female flower tissues (Ficus carica L.) after bagging

Ziran Wang et al.

Summary: The study used metabolomics and transcriptomics methods to analyze the changes in metabolites and gene expression networks in the fruit tissue of 'Zibao' fig before and after bagging, and found that differences in fruit flavor components could be explained by changes in carbohydrates, organic acids, amino acids, and phenolic compounds. The research provides comprehensive information on the effects of bagging on fruit quality.
