Clinical association of CXCR4 in primary tumor of papillary thyroid cancer and response to iodine-131 treatment

Korrakode Sirakriengkrai et al.

Summary: The study found that CXCR4 is significantly expressed in PTC tumors compared to normal thyroid tissues, but there is no clear clinical association with radioiodine treatment response. The immunostaining score of CXCR4 is positively associated with tumor size.

Reassessment of SST4 Somatostatin Receptor Expression Using SST4-eGFP Knockin Mice and the Novel Rabbit Monoclonal Anti-Human SST4 Antibody 7H49L61

Amelie Lupp et al.

Summary: The researchers investigated the localization of SST4 in normal and neoplastic human tissues using a knockin mouse model expressing SST4-eGFP fusion protein and a novel rabbit monoclonal anti-human SST4 antibody. They demonstrated that SST4 is prominently expressed in certain cells in the cortex and trigeminal ganglion, and the specificity of the antibody was confirmed through immunoblot and preadsorption experiments. The antibody was also found to be valuable for identifying SST4-expressing tumors in adrenal cortex, exocrine pancreas, and other tissues during routine histopathological examinations.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Thyroid cancer incidence trends by histology in 25 countries: a population-based study

Adalberto Miranda-Filho et al.

Summary: This study analyzed international trends of thyroid cancer incidence by major histological subtypes based on data collected by IARC from 1998 to 2012. The results showed that papillary thyroid cancer was the main contributor and the only subtype that systematically increased in all countries, with large variability between countries.
