Impact of surface roughness on the self-assembling of molecular films onto gold electrodes for label-free biosensing applications

Gorachand Dutta et al.

Summary: Controlling the surface characteristics of gold electrodes is crucial for label-free electrochemical biosensing applications, and using redox composite materials within a nanometer thickness range can mitigate the impact of roughness on interface properties. The electrochemical roughness factor and mechanical roughness root mean square of the surface are important parameters for quality control of molecularly assembled films and chemical surface modifications.

Electrochemical aptasensor for NS1 detection: Towards a fast dengue biosensor

Bassam Bachour Junior et al.

Summary: An electrochemical biosensor for NS1 detection was developed in this study by optimizing the molar ratio between aptamers and MCH, achieving high sensitivity and low detection limits for NS1 detection in the early stages of disease. By adding bovine serum albumin to stabilize NS1, the sensor accurately detected NS1 from different Dengue serotypes.

Lying in wait: the resurgence of dengue virus after the Zika epidemic in Brazil

Anderson Fernandes Brito et al.

Summary: The study found that dengue transmission was low in Brazil in 2017-2018 despite suitable conditions, with a decline in susceptibility and outbreaks in 2018-2019 caused by local DENV lineages that circulated cryptically for years before and after the Zika epidemic. This suggests that DENV lineages may circulate at low levels for extended periods before causing major outbreaks when conditions are conducive.

Rapid Detection and One-Step Differentiation of Cross-Reactivity Between Zika and Dengue Virus Using Functional Magnetic Nanosensors

Tuhina Banerjee et al.

Summary: The study developed a magnetic nanoplatform for rapid and accurate detection of Zika and Dengue antibodies, demonstrating high specificity and sensitivity in detecting and differentiating the infections of these two viruses. The magnetic relaxation nano sensors showed the potential for use in serological samples of various pathogens.
