Removal of methyl violet by Moroccan clays: kinetics study and equilibrium mechanism

Yassine Bentahar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the removal of methyl violet by natural clays, with Rhassoul-clay showing the highest adsorption capacity. Different mathematical models and thermodynamic studies were employed to explore the adsorption mechanism and factors affecting it. Thermodynamic studies indicated that the increase in temperature improved the adsorption capacity of basic dye on A-clay and Rhassoul-clay and that adsorption processes were endothermic.

New silica based adsorbent material from rice straw and its in-flow application to nitrate reduction in waters: Process sustainability and scale-up possibilities

H. R. Robles-Jimarez et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a specific example of transitioning to a sustainable circular economy process by developing a green synthesis from rice straw ashes to obtain a useful by-product, which can reduce nitrate content in water. The scalable silica synthesis method showed promising results at lab scale and during scaling-up. Adsorption studies in standard and real well waters yielded similar results, showcasing the effectiveness of the developed method.

Effective removal of cationic methylene blue dye using nano-hydroxyapatite synthesized from fish scale bio-waste

Sathiskumar Swamiappan et al.

Summary: Nano-hydroxyapatite (NHAp) with a novel rod shape was synthesized from Labeo rohita fish scale bio-waste using an economical and environmentally friendly method. The NHAp exhibited high adsorption efficiency for cationic dye removal and followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, showing potential for cost-effective and eco-friendly wastewater treatment.

Tetracycline adsorption by tilapia fish bone-based biochar: Mass transfer assessment and fixed-bed data prediction by hybrid statistical-phenomenological modeling

Aparecido Nivaldo Modenes et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential of biochar produced from tilapia fish bone-residue for tetracycline adsorption and investigated the kinetic and equilibrium mechanisms in the adsorption process, as well as the performance of fixed bed system. The research found that the biochar production conditions affect the removal capacity of tetracycline, and the biochar has a large specific surface area and a mesoporous structure, with optimal adsorption under near-neutral pH conditions.

Dissimilar adsorption of higher-order aggregates compared with monomers and dimers of methylene blue on graphene oxide: An optical spectroscopic perspective

Varun Dolia et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that there are differences in the adsorption behavior of higher-order aggregates of methylene blue (MB) compared to monomers and dimers on graphene oxide (GO). The adsorption of monomers and dimers is influenced by London dispersion and electrostatic forces, while higher-order aggregates primarily interact through pi-pi interactions. The preferential adsorption of these molecular species is also influenced by the concentration of GO and the lateral dimensions of GO nanosheets.
