Small-Molecule Inhibitors of Shp2 Phosphatase as Potential Chemotherapeutic Agents for Glioblastoma: A Minireview

Rangan Mitra et al.

Summary: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a devastating cancer with poor prognosis and low survival rate. Researchers are focusing on developing potent anti-GBM drugs targeting pathways and molecular mediators, such as Shp2, which plays a crucial role in regulating signaling pathways in normal and glioma cells.

Alzheimer disease and the periodontal patient: New insights, connections, and therapies

Mark I. Ryder et al.

Summary: The loss of cognitive function in the aging population, especially in those with Alzheimer's disease, poses unique challenges for health practitioners. Dental practitioners need to address periodontal diseases, caries, and other dental conditions in these individuals, as there is evidence of a possible connection between periodontal disease microflora and the initiation and progression of Alzheimer's disease. New therapies targeting periodontal pathogens and general approaches to reducing periodontal plaque microflora may have beneficial effects in managing cognitive function loss in Alzheimer's disease patients.

PTPN3 is a potential target for a new cancer immunotherapy that has a dual effect of T cell activation and direct cancer inhibition in lung neuroendocrine tumor

Satoko Koga et al.

Summary: Inhibition of PTPN3 enhances the anti-tumor effect of lymphocytes in small cell lung cancer, suggesting that PTPN3 plays a role in cancer suppression and malignant traits induction in lung NET. PTPN3 signaling is mediated by MAPK and PI3K signals, and its suppression could be a new method for cancer treatment and immunotherapy development.
