Aerobic exercise reduces anxiety and fear ratings to threat and increases circulating endocannabinoids in women with and without PTSD

Kevin M. Crombie et al.

Summary: This study examined the effects of acute aerobic exercise on anxiety and fear in women with PTSD, with results showing significant reductions in anxiety and fear following exercise. Exercise-induced increases in circulating concentrations of endocannabinoids were associated with greater reductions in anxiety and fear ratings to threats. Overall, aerobic exercise also led to improvements in mood states, particularly in the PTSD group.
