Liping Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the failure behavior of lining structures and stress variations of surrounding rock in a super-large cross-section tunnel through large-scale geo-mechanical model tests and numerical simulations. The findings suggest strengthening the lining near tunnel areas of concern and focusing on stress near specific rock walls for safety control and design references. Overloading safety factors were also determined through experiments.

Distributed fibre optic monitoring of damaged lining in double-arch tunnel and analysis of its deformation mode

Yi Sui et al.

Summary: Cracking and crushing were observed in the first tunnel lining of the Kaidagu double-arch tunnel during excavation of the second tunnel. Distributed fibre optic monitoring was carried out for nearly 1 year to study the deformation and stress of the damaged lining. The strain distribution indicated vertical and oblique ovalisation deformation, with overall compression deformation observed over time. The proposed method of using fibre optic strain data for inversion analysis provided more accurate results compared to total stations, allowing for calculation of displacements, forces, and loads of the arch structures.
