The Value-added Catalog for LAMOST DR8 Low-resolution Spectra

Chun Wang et al.

Summary: We present a catalog containing stellar parameters estimated from 7.10 million low-resolution spectra for 5.16 million unique stars obtained by LAMOST Galactic spectroscopic surveys. The catalog provides information about atmospheric parameters, absolute magnitudes, and spectrophotometric distances. This catalog is of great value for studying the structure and evolution of the galaxy, especially the solar neighborhood and the outer disk.

Most lithium-rich low-mass evolved stars revealed as red clump stars by asteroseismology and spectroscopy

Hong-Liang Yan et al.

Summary: An asteroseismic and spectroscopic analysis of lithium-rich stars classifies them as red clump stars rather than red giant branch stars. The distribution of lithium-rich red giants declines steeply, while red clump stars have higher lithium abundances. The differences in mass and nitrogen abundance distributions between red clump and red giant branch stars indicate an unknown process affecting low-mass stellar evolution.

Lithium Enrichment Signatures of Planetary Engulfment Events in Evolved Stars

Melinda Soares-Furtado et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of hot Jupiter engulfment on surface Li enrichment using MESA stellar models and GALAH abundance measurements. The results show that engulfment of a hot Jupiter can lead to significant Li enrichment signatures in stars near the main-sequence turn-off.

Enhancement of lithium in red clump stars by the additional energy loss induced by new physics

Kanji Mori et al.

Summary: Recent studies have found that most red giants show a decrease in surface lithium abundance as stars evolve, but red clump stars have unexpectedly high lithium abundances. To explain this discrepancy, additional energy loss channels beyond the Standard Model are considered, affecting the production of Be-7 and leading to higher lithium abundances in certain stars.

Tracking the Evolution of Lithium in Giants Using Asteroseismology: Super-Li-rich Stars Are Almost Exclusively Young Red-clump Stars

Raghubar Singh et al.

Summary: This study combines asteroseismic and lithium abundance data to investigate the evolutionary status of lithium-rich giant stars. The research finds that super-Li-rich giants are predominantly young red-clump stars, while more evolved red-clump stars generally have low lithium abundances. The study also suggests a rapid destruction of lithium between the young, super-Li-rich phase and the older, Li-poor phase.

The GALAH survey: a census of lithium-rich giant stars

Sarah L. Martell et al.

Summary: Research shows that lithium-rich red giant stars are rare, making up only 1.2% of the sample, and red clump stars are more likely to be lithium-rich than red giant branch stars. Various factors affect the probability for a star to be lithium-rich, and primary and secondary red clump stars exhibit distinct lithium enrichment patterns.

Lithium Evolution of Giant Stars Observed by LAMOST and Kepler

Jinghua Zhang et al.

Summary: Tracking the evolution of lithium in evolved stars can provide insights into the fundamental physical processes of stellar interiors, shedding light on the theory of stellar structure and evolution. The study shows natural depletion of lithium in red giant branch stars, with low-mass stars reaching core helium burning phase showing an increase in lithium abundance compared to stars above the RGB bump. Special mechanisms may be responsible for super Li-rich stars during helium flash, while mergers could also be a potential source for Li-rich stars during core He burning phase.

Lithium in red giants: the roles of the He-core flash and the luminosity bump

Deepak et al.

Summary: The study of lithium abundances in red giants from the GALAHDR3 survey has identified rare examples of Li-enriched stars with similar masses and metallicity to those in the red clump. It is suggested that Li enrichment likely occurs in all red clump stars, and that lithium synthesis is attributed to the He-core flash occurring at the tip of the red giant branch. The MESA models match the observed evolution of these stars, with a speculation that the series of He-core flashes may also lead to internal restructuring and the observed temperature spread of red clump stars.

Light Elements in the Universe

Sofia Randich et al.

Summary: Light elements such as lithium, beryllium, and boron, as well as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, play a crucial role in investigating various issues in modern astrophysics. Precise measurements of these elements are challenging, but advances in instrumentation have allowed for high-quality abundance determinations in stars of different types, providing new insights and raising new questions. Opportunities for further advancement in understanding light-element patterns and evolution in the Universe are on the horizon with the development of new generation instrumentation.
